Proud of my fellow Country fans

Our 9 year wedding anniversary came around and I was determined to surprise my wife. Here in Tulsa, we just got a new event center called the BOK Center. Well, they have been very active bringing in some really good musicians and programs. My wife is a huge country music fan and Rascal Flatts along with Taylor Swift were swinging into town.
I knew that this was the surprise I was waiting on. I mean…she even uses Rascal Flatts as her main ringtone. So I took the plunge and bought them. Great seats. She was so excited when she opened the card and those tickets fell out. For three weeks, we were anxiously awaiting the night of the concert.
When it finally got here, it was well worth the wait. Taylor Swift opened the show and was really good. There is no doubt that she is a performer. The crowd just absolutely loved her. The best part of her performance was a very cool drumming aluminum trash cans bit. It was her and her violin player doing the duo.

After a short intermission, the lights went out and the screams roared. Everyone about had a heart attack when a huge boom went off and Rascal Flatts came running out. The integration of lights, huge video screens, and tremendous voices just took all our breaths away. I knew they were good, but I was overwhelmed how great all 3 singers were.

After singing a ton of songs, Rascal Flatts thanked everyone and left the platform. Of course, all of us were screaming our heads off to get some more. On the big screen, a huge aviatar came on playing a guitar. He played some classic guitar lines from popular songs. Ones got more cheers than others. But when the huge blonde buff digital man started to play the National Anthem, the crowd absolutely erupted!! It was deafening.
At that moment, I was so proud to be standing with people that loved their country. I know this may seem such a dumb thing to talk about, but right then and there I saw a difference. In this day and age, where most of the popular rock-n-roll, hip-hop, and alternative muscians are constantly finding ways to slam either the President or our country… this country concert did the exact opposite. I saw with my own eyes how Country music fans in large part are just that….FANS OF COUNTRY…OUR COUNTRY…THE GREAT USA.
Think about it for a minute. Madonna, Barbara Streisand, Kanye West, and many more have dominated award shows and even written songs slamming this country or its president. Now I will admit that I did not like Bill Clinton at all, but I never liked to see someone slam him on a worldwide view. Kinda like family…I may have issues with my cousin and I will fight with him…but if you as an outsider try to attack him…it is on. He may be a moron but he is my moron.
Really folks just look at the proof. Country musicians write songs praising this country not mocking it. Songs like Independence Day, Remember when, Red-White-and Blue, and much more. The Country Music Award Show is not about who can slam the country or President the most/best. It is just about music period. Country songs have elements of faith in them. Now of course all country music is not great. I personally hate the songs of affairs and woe is me stuff.
However, I just felt so strongly about this that I had to write it down. I used to hate country music. It is now my music of choice. I pray it keeps its roots of love of family, love of God, and love of Country.
